Dabbling in Kmail Hacking

Saturday, August 26th, 2006

Yesterday I took my first steps toward setting up a development environment to work on Kmail.  Will Stephenson, an engineer at SuSE provided a lot of insight and support through the #kontact IRC channel.  My motivation is to help with Groupwise support in Kmail, and the other kontact subprojects like korganizer and kaddressbook.
Anyway, Will provided [...]

Update on NewsGator

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

In a previous post I expained that I was moving from Bloglines to Newsgator. Well, a few days on and I could not be happier. The UI differences have been shrugged aside and I am actually starting to reap the benefits from the Newsgator implementation.
Separate Nav and Body Panes: I thought this would [...]

An Injury Free Game

Monday, August 21st, 2006

On Sunday the Woodbridge Elite soccer team played and I was actually able to play.  Anyway, we lost 4-0 but the amazing thing was that I managed to survive the outing with no injuries!!!
I walked off the pitch, a little disappointed, but quite relieved that I was tired but had no joint pains or muscle [...]

Bloglines Out . . . Newsgator In . . .

Monday, August 21st, 2006

Since the components were being added to the SuSE build system, for Java projects that means using a components Ant build [...]

Comment Spam is Back

Monday, August 7th, 2006

Just when I thought it was safe to venture into the blogging waters, I discovered that there were two comments that required moderating.  Signing on to sxore.com was a pain because I forgot what the homesite was and now I see that they allow OpenID and other identity URL’s (oh sooo confusing).
Anyway, I digress.  I [...]

High Profile Programmers Respond to Insightful Questions

Friday, August 4th, 2006

Don’t ask me how, but I managed to happen upon a blog post by Jarosław “sztywny” Rzeszótko, where he posed some questions to high profile programmers like James Gosling, Linus Torvalds, Dave Thomas, Bjarne Stroustrup to name a few.  The questions range from “How did you learn programming”, to “What are your favourite music bands/performers/compositors?”.  [...]
